This is an old-school type desk mat, the kind you would see on executive desks prior to the computer revolution. It's good to see these are still around and just as useful as they ever were. I like using this kind of mat when I draw or write. It provides a good surface for pen or pencil without being too giving, unlike the more modern looking neoprene "desk pads". This mat has a transparent liftable layer that you can put notes, important documents, photo's, etc. and is more versatile than the ugly and ever-present post-its stuck all over things nowadays, this kind of mat keeps things neat tidy and more visually interesting on modern desks.
