If you have the budget for it, you won't be disappointed with the Vari Electric Standing Desk. There are other more budget friendly desks, but there are several features that I am glad to have with this one. The 30" depth puts my monitors at the ideal distance where with a 24" depth they would be too close. The 50.7" max height is great for taller people like myself (6'4"). I also appreciate the dual motors, 3 stage legs and overall sturdiness of the desk.Other reviews have noted that the desk top is neither solid wood or actual reclaimed wood. Do not let this deter you. A solid 60"x30" piece of any type of wood be extremely expensive, probably more than the entire cost of this desk. The top is laminated, but it is thick and stronger than many others I have researched. I did initially consider the reclaimed wood color but some reviews noted that the top was not quite smooth and affected writing, so I went with the dark wood color. It is smooth and looks great. As stated in the description the desk top is shipped separately from the legs. I certainly understand why, but just be aware of a slight quirk with Amazon's system. I received a tracking number for the legs and after they were delivered the order showed complete even though I had not received the top. The top arrived 2 days after the legs, so in the end it was fine. It would be better if order page showed both tracking numbers but the seller did provide the other tracking number after I requested it.Assembly was quite easy. The Allen wrench/hex key comes with a handle which makes it much easier to use over the ones you usually get with other pieces of furniture. You do need 2 people to flip it over after assembly. Flipping it over by yourself risks damaging it.I didn't initially think I would use the 2 incuded hangers, but they are perfect for hanging my back pack and head set.It took me a little while to decide on this desk over some of the less expensive ones, but in the end I am glad I did.Like many, I read a ton of reviews and this company always found itself near or at the top of the list. I went with Vari because they offered a 60x24 desk option and everyone said it was easy to setup (absolutley true). Added bonus for supporting a Taiwanese company!First thing you notice is how heavy and dense the table top is. The laminate coating is superb and the overall desk screams quality. Now I made some modifications to the desk since I have particular needs regarding cable management and I was putting it in my office closet. Which led me to notch the corners to get it to fit just right (I know right?! cutting an 800 dollar desk! Made me sweat a bit). Measure twice, cut once! Used a hacksaw with a good blade and took my time. I gave myself a half inch extra room from the wall for the notch but could have gone to a quarter inch because this desk is sooooo sturdy. Not a bit of wobble, so I know it isn't hitting the wall ever.I also added cheap cable trays underneath and screwed them into the wood. I went this route because the proprietary option was too small for my needs. My route worked great, just make sure you use the right screws. Then I used some gorilla tape to secure a power supply to the bottom. The result is a nice tidy desk and I freaking love it.This desk is definitely worth the price tagThe instructions for installation was reasonably straightforward with the exception of the controller setup.I wasn't grasping it and it and it seemed more complicated than it should be.The setup refers to the LED flashing "RST". I have never seen that. I only have seen it display "ASR". Have not been able to get it to display RST even following instructiuons. Not too much of a big deal. There is a ay to limit how low or high the desk goes, but it would be nice if it had an obstruction sensor where the slightest resistance going down it would stop. Kind of the way a garage door opener reverses if on its way down it meets resistance. The arm of my chair was under the desk and as it came down it hit the arm and kept on going down despite the resistance. I was able to stop it before it potentially caused an issue.I should have not picked the "dark wood" version. Its it horrible, I hate it. It looks better in the picture than it does in person. I am looking for ways to "recover" the surface with something else.I think it would be an extraordinary hassle to return for a different option, such as the "reclaimed wood". Even thought i purchased on Amazon, it was shipped by Vari. I will reach out to Vari and see what they say about exchanging the type of wood. Not holding any hope on that.I love this desk. From an ergonomic standpoint to simplicity, this desk does it all. The materials used are very quality. It was so easy to assemble and overall so well thought out. At most it was less than 10 bolts and the fact that they included accessories such as headphone holders and a coaster set them way ahead of the competition. You truly get what you pay for and this desk is worth every penny. When I was buying it, I called them and made sure it was "Solid wood," they said, yes, it's reclaimed wood, but wait, this is just the color, the printed "laminate" surface. Now, after a year, I get bubbles on the surface. I feel cheated, and I suddenly dislike this desk so much; it should be priced at nothing over 500. It's veneer, not solid wood. This is a quality desk that arrives in packing materials built better than some cheap furniture. It was easy to assemble on my own and I had no trouble flipping it over for the last step. The up / down and memory features work great, everything you could hope for.My only quibbles are it has quite a sharp edge where your palm rest. I did not realize I rested my hands here while typing so much until I received this desk. My other desks have had a larger radius end and so they have never felt sharp. It seems like should be an easy fix for the manufacturer, just put more of a radius on the front edge. I bought the reclaimed wood look desk. it looks fine, but it is not wood, just a laminate print over a composite wood top, That is fine, probably longer lasting and easier to clean than real wood. I just wish the front edge had a rounder corner on it. Otherwise great and wide enough for my 3 monitors. The desk just broke after light use, on the 6th week of ownership. The desk itself is quite nice, but the control box has been quite finicky. Every time it's unplugged, it needs to be reset, and there's periodically a few second delay before the actual desk starts moving.I've reached out to support in hopes of resolving this, I will update this review if/when it's resolved, though at this point in time, I don't think I'd recommend this desk considering the problems I've had with the control box, and the whole desk breaking after 6 weeks.I've had this table for 3 months and it is definitely worth the money. It's super heavy so it's extremely sturdy. My partner put it together really quickly without my help. It has memory settings for easy height changes which is very nice. The tabletop is also really nice looking even though it's not actual rustic wood, it mimics that look very well.Chose the old wood; fits my decor perfectly. Looks and feels indestructible. Easy to assemble and I have trouble assembling anything.
